Translating an economic, transport, management or any other problem into the language of mathematics, modern specialist is able to use all the diversity and richness of mathematical means to solve it. The objects of study of mathematics are logical models built to describe natural, technological and social phenomena. Mathematical model of the object of study (phenomenon, process, etc.) is called a logical structure that reflects the geometric shape of the object and quantitative relations between its numerical parameters. Thus mathematical model, all the while displaying and reproducing one or another aspect of the object, is able to replace it so that study of the model will provide new information about the object, based on the principles of mathematical theory, on mathematically formulated laws of nature. If a mathematical model correctly reflects the essential features of this phenomenon, it allows you to find previously undetected patterns and to give a mathematical analysis of the conditions under which the solution of theoretical or practical problems, arising in the study of this phenomenon, is possible. Such models are formulated in a special language  the language of numbers and characters.
Modern mathematics combined with informatics becomes an interdisciplinary tool, which performs two main functions: firstly, training a professional’s ability to correctly define the purpose of a given process and determine the conditions and limitations in achieving the goal; secondly, the analytical one, ie "playing" possible situations on the model and obtaining optimal solutions. The reason why not only technology, mechanics, electronics, economics, but also medicine, ecology, psychology, sociology, linguistics, history, law, etc., cannot do without mathematical methods is simple  mathematical methods are characterized by:

Clarity of language and definitions;

The use of precise quantitative estimates;

Logical rigor;

The combination of inductive and deductive approaches;

Universality.
